Rasha Abdel-Moneim Mahmoud is an important and energetic voice from the theatre scene of Cairo will visit Gothenburg in order to share her story of a remarkable personal journey through political turmoil and dynamic artistic eruption. Rasha is searching for the relevance of the contemporary Egyptian theatre. She tears down illusions and asks questions that are just as urgent here in the west as they are in Egypt. Her lecture will be a guided tour to a condition beyond our ingrained postmodern discourses.

RASHA ABDEl-MONEIM MAHMOUD graduate in Arabic and Islamic studies at the House of Science; Cairo University. She is a playwright who has received many prestigious prizes for her work and she recieved a diploma in literature as playwright par excellence by the Cairo University 1998. She is now working towards a masters degree (on the authorities in Saadallah Wannous drama) at the faculty of arts in the Arabic department at the Cairo University.

Rasha is also secretary to the Supreme National Council of theater culture, vice-president of the Society Research and Training center of theater, an active theatre critic and an activist with an important voice in the independent theatre movement in Egypt.
